Syresham 7 - 0 Newton Longville - Match Report

Syresham 7 Newton Longville 0

Newton were always up against it with only 9 players. They held until the 7th minute when Jordan made a classy pass wide to Jacob to send over a high cross from the left, Chris headed it through the keepers finger tips into the roof of the net (1-0). It wasn’t long before Syresham, playing in their alternative green strip, started to increase their shot count with Jake H coming close just to the left of the goal. Then Jordan coolly slotted home inside the box as the ball broke free (2-0). Ollie was making his usual key defensive interceptions and moving forward he was unlucky with a shot just left of the post. Following some attacking play down the right side when Alex dribbled past a number of players the ball came to Chris who squared it to Jake H to slot in another (3-0). A nicely timed through ball give Jake the opportunity to finish with accuracy to take his 2nd (4-0). By now Syresham thought it only fair to even up the sides, so took 2 players off.

In the 2nd half there were a few changes to give players a chance in different positions and a number of goal attempts with Warren putting a nicely struck volley just wide, then Ollie hitting a long range shot into the keepers arms. There were some great forward runs involving Alex, Chris and Callum with some nice interplay but the ball wouldn’t go in for Callum. It was either saved, just missed or hit the crossbar from close range. Eventually Cameron managed to strike the ball to the right of the keeper when it broke for him just inside the box (5-0). Will was clearing things up at the back with great timing and simple distribution. Callum did put the ball in the net after Chris put him through but was in an offside position so it was disallowed. Warren put away a nicely struck goal from the left following some great wing play from Jake B and a simple lay off from Chris. Following another great distribution from Ollie down the right wing, Jake H put Jake B through to lash it inside the near post to finish the scoring (7-0)
